Superman Unchained is a reboot of the Superman film series. Directed by Greg Berlanti the film was written by Berlanti and Allison Adler. Berlanti also co-produced it with Donald De Line.

- Josh Hutcherson as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman: Native from the planet Krypton, Clark grew up on earth and has been raised by a couple of farmers in Smallville, Kansas. He has become a journalist at the Daily Planet in Metropolis but is struggling to control his powers.
- Alexandra Daddario as Lana Lang: A child friend of Clark in Smallville and now his girlfriend. She knows Clark's secret for years and supports his heroic endeavors from the beginning. Unlike Clark she stayed in Smallville which complicates their relationship.
- Zoe Kazan as Lois Lane: A investigative journalist employed at the Daily Planet and one of Clark's colleague. Raised in the military, she is strong and independent. Clark is impressed by her dedication and idealism towards her career from their first meeting.
